40-Hour Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Course
The 40-hour Radiation Safety Officer Course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to manage and oversee radiation safety programs in accordance with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, Agreement State requirements, and applicable federal standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT). The course establishes a strong scientific foundation in radiation physics, radioactivity, and biological effects, then builds into operational topics such as instrumentation, regulatory compliance, radiation monitoring, emergency response, shielding, surveys, and program management.
Trainees will learn how to interpret and apply regulatory requirements, maintain ALARA programs, conduct radiation surveys, manage sealed sources and radioactive materials, oversee personnel dosimetry programs, investigate abnormal events, and maintain complete and accurate records for compliance.
This course meets the training expectations outlined in NUREG-1556 series guidance for RSOs and prepares participants for roles in medical, industrial, academic, and research settings.
8-Hour Radiation Worker Training Course
The 8-hour Radiation Worker Training Course provides essential knowledge and practical skills for individuals who work with, or in close proximity to, ionizing radiation sources. The course is designed to meet regulatory requirements for radiation worker instruction under 10 CFR 19.12 and state equivalents, ensuring workers understand radiation fundamentals, exposure risks, ALARA principles, area controls, emergency procedures, and safe operating practices.
Participants will learn how radiation interacts with matter, how exposures are monitored and controlled, how to interpret postings and labels, and how to respond to abnormal conditions. Practical demonstrations and scenario-based activities reinforce safe work habits and empower workers to maintain compliance while protecting themselves, coworkers, and the public.
This course is appropriate for laboratory staff, industrial workers, radiographers, technologists, maintenance personnel, security staff, and any employee assigned unescorted access to radiologically controlled areas.
1-Hour General Radiation Safety Training
The 1-Hour General Radiation Safety Training provides essential awareness-level instruction for individuals who may occasionally work around ionizing radiation sources but are not classified as radiation workers. The course covers the basic characteristics of radiation, common sources found in workplaces, simple protective measures, understanding warning signs and labels, and what actions to take in an abnormal or emergency situation.
This training satisfies the awareness-level expectations of 10 CFR 19.12 and Agreement State equivalents for individuals who require basic understanding but not full worker-level training.
